A real story that includes an element of fiction as well as fact will always do well because the story has believable facts as well as the fiction which makes it interesting. Such a book was first developed on the internet and as it was picked up and read by thousands of people downloading it, it made it into paperback format and soon to be a film. The book is called Lights Out and it was written by David Crawford.
One which could easily happen in todays world of Power shortages, global warming, climate change and natural disasters. It is of course a work of fiction by David Crawford and he takes the situation that the main character finds himself in following the days and weeks after the majority of the World has been plunged into darkness and civil unrest. He must secure his family, friends and neighbour’s and steer them through the dangers that they experience.
The name given to the main character is Mark Turner who takes on the huge challenge following an huge burst of Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) which cuts out a huge amount of power across the world, there are no cars around, no engines little in the way of lighting and power unless someone has some form of shielding or other protection available to them. There is utter chaos and of course the villains are going to take every possible advantage they can and they certainly do. This story is easily possible these days and because of this it is very believable and it makes the story that much better.

It is the unbelievable and believable struggle of people from every nook and cranny of our society or should I say Silver Hill in Texas who simply try to survive in a world where they will have lost all normal modern conveniences to which they have become accustomed to. It will be like suddenly going back a couple of thousand years where everything they know from communications to commerce and transportation have been lost and crippled by “The Burst” as it is eventually known. The big cities riot and burn, so many small communities band together in an attempt to save their families, friends, and neighbors from the cruel reality that soon becomes the normal way of things. In the natural order of things natural leaders soon emerge, it may be a role that is not wanted to some people have the knowledge and power to survive where others need to be lead. One such man is Mark Turner, he finds himself pushed into the leadership role he doesn’t want. The story is told through his eyes as he labors with organizing, training, and even refereeing the people around him. Mark knows that their survival depends on everyone in the neighborhood pulling together. But Mark’s biggest battle isn’t with MZB’s, though. He strives most to find within himself the strength, courage, and compassion to lead his ragtag community through this crisis.
This could really happen in todays modern world where many of us are hooked on power and technology. Just imagine for a moment if everything went of for a week, how would you cope, how would we all cope is an even bigger question that would haunt many of us for a long time to come.
I for one am not sure, I think I would stick around until I had a clear picture of what is happening but
survival is also a matter of luck for many you know, jump right survive, jump left you die!
